Why interactive tools beat travel articles

DubaiSpots is the only Dubai travel site building utilities, not just content. Here's why that matters for your trip.

Instant answers

A 600-word article on tipping takes 4 minutes to read. Our tip calculator gives you the exact answer in 8 seconds.

🎯

Personalized to your trip

Generic articles say "Dubai is expensive." Our calculators tell you what YOUR specific 5-day budget will be.

🔬

Honest math

No hidden affiliate boosts. We show you the real numbers — including the ones the hotels don't want you to see.

Frequently asked questions

Are these Dubai travel tools really free?

Yes — every tool on this hub is 100% free, requires no signup, and shows no advertising in the tool itself. We monetize the site through affiliate partnerships with hotel and activity bookings (when you choose to use them), not through tool fees or premium tiers. We've built these tools because Visit Dubai, Time Out, and the major travel-content sites don't ship interactive tools at all — they publish articles. We think the future of travel content is utilities, not just words.

How accurate are the calculations and rates?

Our currency rates pull from open.exchangerate-api.com (mid-market rates from major financial data providers, updated daily). Our budget calculations use 2025 data from 500+ Dubai hotels and 150+ attractions, refreshed every 30 days. Visa rules are sourced from the UAE ICP (Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security) official policy — refreshed monthly. We mark each tool with a 'last updated' timestamp so you can verify freshness. Importantly: we show you the SAME numbers banks see, not inflated 'tourist' numbers.

Why don't bigger Dubai sites have tools like these?

Building interactive tools requires engineering capability that traditional travel publishers (Visit Dubai, Time Out, Conde Nast Traveler) don't have in-house. They produce articles. Tools require frontend developers, backend APIs, and ongoing maintenance — much more expensive per asset than commissioning a writer. We're an unusual case: a small editorial team paired with full-stack engineering, which lets us build utilities others can't. This is why our tools are uniquely interactive — you won't find a real Dubai AED converter or alcohol-law checker on the major travel sites.

Do you collect my data when I use these tools?

Almost no data is collected. Tools that involve calculation (budget, currency, tip) run entirely in your browser — none of your inputs leave your device. Tools that look up data (visa checker, attraction status) make read-only API calls but don't log queries. The exception: if you choose to subscribe to our Daily Brief or save itineraries, we save the email you provide (with explicit opt-in). Cookie consent banner appears on first visit per EU/UAE privacy law. See our privacy policy for the full breakdown.

Can I embed these tools on my own travel blog?

Yes — embed codes are coming Q2 2026 (we're polishing the iframe styling first). Currently you can link to any tool freely; embed support will be free with optional attribution. We're particularly interested in partnering with travel bloggers, expat community sites, and Israeli/German/Arab travel platforms to embed our currency converter and visa checker. If you're interested in being a launch partner for embeds, drop us a note via the contact form.

What new tools are coming next?

Active roadmap (next 90 days): 1) Tip Calculator (Dubai-specific tipping rules — restaurants, taxis, hotels, spa, desert safari). 2) Hijri Date Converter (essential for Ramadan and Islamic holiday planning). 3) Prayer Times Widget (precise to 1-second for any Dubai location). 4) Best-Time-to-Visit Calculator (weather + crowds + prices for your specific dates). 5) Dubai Weather Wear Recommender (what to actually pack for the heat/humidity you'll face). 6) Hotel-by-Budget Filter. We ship one new tool every 2 weeks. Subscribe to the Daily Brief to get notified.
